SUNNYSIDE, QUEENS
Bajeko Sekuwa
A Kathmandu grill house on Queens Boulevard — mutton sekuwa, fried goat head and jhol momo.
Bajeko Sekuwa is a Kathmandu chain built on one thing — sekuwa, meat marinated in spice and grilled over fire — and its Queens Boulevard dining room was its first outpost outside Nepal. The Sunnyside location has since become the base for more American branches.
Mutton sekuwa is the house specialty, smoky and charred at the edges. Adventurous eaters will find a whole section of the menu given to goat's head — the fried version is the one to try. For something gentler, jhol momo in a spiced broth, or a thali that lays out the full Nepali plate.
Editor’s tip
Order mutton sekuwa for the table, then let one brave person try the fried goat head.
