IllustrationSince 2011, Bathtub Gin has hidden behind a secret door at the back of a Ninth Avenue coffee shop. Step through and it's the 1920s: a dark room of bar stools and Prohibition décor, and the copper bathtub that gives the place its name.
Gin is the focus, with a deep library of bottles and a cocktail list built around it. Most nights bring live music or DJs, which makes it a better place for celebrating than for whispering.
Editor’s tip
Reserve ahead on weekends, and ask the bartender for a gin you've never tried.
