IllustrationChef Silvia Barban and her partners, the team behind LaRina in Fort Greene, opened this laid-back trattoria a few steps from the Franklin Avenue station. It is a true neighborhood place — house wine by the carafe, free bread, candlelight enough for a date — with cooking good enough to cross the borough for.
Bread arrives first: sourdough and olive-oil-slick focaccia. Then the fried zucchini, the two-sided ravioli filled half with ricotta and half with spinach, squid ink spaghetti with tiny manila clams, and tagliatelle al ragù with a little dish of extra sauce on the side. Whatever you do, wait for the dessert cart, and take the pistachio cake.
Editor’s tip
Order two pastas for two and say yes when the dessert cart comes round.
