IllustrationThe French bistro inside the reopened Hotel Chelsea is an Art Deco room of mirrors on every wall, booths in the bar, tables set close, and art from the hotel's famous collection hanging overhead. In the morning, the conservatory-like side rooms fill with light.
Omelettes are served all day, the brûléed pain perdu is the brunch order, and at night it's steak frites or the wood-fired maitake au poivre with cognac sauce. Shrimp cocktail and the Chelsea Burger are there for when you want something simple in a room that is anything but.
Editor’s tip
Book a weekend brunch for the morning light, then have a drink at the Lobby Bar next door.
