The Korean bakery is its own genre: soft, faintly sweet breads, cream-filled buns, tidy fruit cakes, and a coffee to go with them. Canaan has been baking for the Korean neighborhoods of Flushing since 1990, and this Northern Boulevard shop opens early, for people on their way to work.
Fill a tray with morning breads and whatever has just come out of the oven, add a mochi doughnut or a croffle, and take a whole fruit cake home if there is a birthday coming. There are sandwiches and toasts for breakfast, and coffee to go with them.
