Karina Garcia grew up in this part of Manhattan after moving from the Dominican Republic; her husband, Eduardo "Lalo" Rodriguez, is from Mexico. Both cooked at Cosme and Eleven Madison Park, ran a supper club from their apartment during the pandemic, and then opened this tiny, walk-in-only room on Hamilton Place, painted a sunny yellow.

Breakfast is the time to come. Order the tortilla con huevo — lightly fried tortillas with hoja santa, runny eggs and salsa roja — and share the masa pancake, thick as corn pudding, with honey butter and fruit. Later in the day there is a torta de pierna, hibiscus tinga quesadillas, and halved marrow bones with birria; ask for extra tortillas.

Editor’s tip

Come for a weekday breakfast, order the tortilla con huevo each, and split the masa pancake.
