IllustrationAn all-day café on Nostrand Avenue since 2014, cooking the Latin American food owner Jorge Salamea grew up with in Ecuador. It works as the neighborhood's living room — bouquets on the tables, horchata lattes at brunch, people writing in notebooks on a Tuesday afternoon.
The tacos are the reason to come. The chorizo-and-egg breakfast tacos are some of the best in the city, and the cochinita pibil trio comes juicy with pork shoulder and pickled onions. Dulce de leche pancakes and a limey chicken soup with root vegetables and rice are just as good on a cold day.
Editor’s tip
Come on a weekday morning to avoid the weekend crowd, and order the breakfast tacos without debate.
