CARROLL GARDENS, BROOKLYN

Court Pastry Shop

Cannoli, sfogliatelle and summer lemon ice on Court Street since 1948.

Court Street's Italian pastry shop has been filling cannoli since 1948, and not much about it has been updated since, which is entirely the appeal. The cases hold sfogliatelle, lobster tails, rococo, macaroons and seven-layer cookies sold by the pound, and in summer a window does a steady trade in Italian ices.

Come for a cannoli and a sfogliatella eaten on the sidewalk, or for a white box tied with string to bring to someone's table. With Caputo's Bake Shop down the street closing in 2026 after more than a century, Court Pastry is one of the last of Court Street's old Italian bakeries still turning on its lights.

Editor’s tip

In summer, get a lemon ice; the rest of the year, a sfogliatella and a cannoli.
