GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN
Di An Di
Modern Vietnamese in a plant-filled room — northern pho worth crossing the borough for.
Di An Di opened on Greenpoint Avenue in 2018, a modern Vietnamese restaurant from first-generation Vietnamese-American owners, in a plant-filled, light-washed room that design magazines noticed almost as quickly as the food critics did. The northern-style pho — clear, precise, built on hours of patience — is the dish people cross the borough for.
Around it sits a menu with real range: crispy rice-flour crepes, grilled meats over noodles, vegetables that get the same care as the broth. It sits a short walk from Transmitter Park, which makes the obvious evening — pho, then the East River at dusk — very easy to arrange.
Editor’s tip
Pho first, then the three-minute walk to Transmitter Park for sunset over Manhattan — in that order.
