GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN

Glasserie

Levantine cooking in an 1860s glassworks at Greenpoint's far northern edge — worth the walk, always.

Glasserie occupies a corner of an 1860s glassworks at the far northern tip of Greenpoint, past where most visitors turn around — which is precisely its charm. Since 2013 it has served Levantine-leaning Mediterranean food in a room of worn brick, patterned tile, and soft lamplight that photographs like a memory.

Dinner is flatbreads, spiced lamb, and vegetables treated seriously; the weekend brunch, with its famous feast for two, is one of Brooklyn's best-kept rituals. The walk up Manhattan Avenue past the old industrial blocks is part of the experience. Arrive hungry, leave slowly.

Editor’s tip

Two people, one brunch feast, no other plans — it's the correct way to lose a Saturday here.
