FINANCIAL DISTRICT, MANHATTAN
Golden Mall (Financial District)
Flushing's food-court name, downtown — hand-pulled noodles, roast duck and dumplings steps from Wall Street.
The name belongs to Flushing — the Golden Shopping Mall, whose basement food court on Main Street was where Xi'an Famous Foods got its start — and now there is a downtown version a short walk from Wall Street, on the ground floor of a reconditioned 1900 building near Trinity Church. Stalls line a narrow hallway, with more promised for the basement, and there is real seating, which is rare at a Financial District lunch.
Go for Golden Bull's hand-pulled noodles — the pork zhajiang dry noodles especially — and a beef sandwich on the side. Lucky Duck House carves Cantonese roast meats and sells Peking duck with steamed pancakes; Snail Dim Sum does pot stickers and char siu bao. Graze, share, and take a second lap.
Editor’s tip
Start at Golden Bull for the zhajiang noodles, then split a quarter duck from Lucky Duck House.
