WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN

High Lúa

Lightly seasoned pho, salted-egg corn and fish-sauce ribs a few blocks from the Williamsburg Bridge.

A casual South Williamsburg room a few blocks from the bridge, pouring Asian beers, sake and Vietnamese coffee alongside a menu of soups, noodle bowls and small plates. It is the neighborhood's easy weeknight Vietnamese.

The pho is aromatic rather than salty, with noodles a little thicker than most, so a squeeze of lime is all it needs. Around it: chả giò with a blistered, bubbly skin, corn tossed with salted duck egg, and pork ribs lacquered in caramelized fish sauce. A basil-seed limeade is the right drink.

Editor’s tip

Pho for one, ribs and salted-egg corn for the table, basil-seed limeade all round.
