ASTORIA, QUEENS

HinoMaru Ramen

Astoria's first ramen-ya since 2011 — a 17-hour tonkotsu, a spicy house bowl and uni ramen off Ditmars.

Up at the Ditmars end of Astoria, two blocks from the last stop on the N, HinoMaru has been serving ramen since 2011 — it calls itself the neighborhood's first ramen-ya, and The Infatuation rates it the best ramen in the neighborhood. The name means "circle of the sun," and there is a full cocktail menu.

The tonkotsu broth is simmered for 17 hours, and it anchors the house HinoMaru ramen, a spicy, creamy pork bowl. There are shoyu and miso bowls, chicken and vegetarian options, and an uni ramen that has become a signature. Round it out with the crispy tuna rice or the ribs.

Editor’s tip

Order the house HinoMaru bowl if you like heat, the uni ramen if you want the splurge.
