WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN

Juliette

The French bistro that outlasted every Williamsburg wave — brunch every day, steak frites every night.

Juliette has held its corner of North 5th Street for roughly two decades — a French-inspired bistro from the era before Williamsburg had a hotel skyline, and one of the few from that era still going strong. The formula hasn't needed changing: onion soup, steak frites, a proper burger, and a brunch that runs daily rather than weekends only.

The room does a lot of the work — zinc-toned bistro trim, big windows on the street, greenery overhead. It is where the neighborhood actually eats between the splashier openings, which is the quiet compliment that keeps a bistro alive for twenty years.

Editor’s tip

A weekday brunch here, then a walk down Bedford to the waterfront, is the easiest good morning in Williamsburg.
