Kora
Filipino-flavored brioche doughnuts in Sunnyside — leche flan, ube everything, and an ensaymada croissant.
Kora started in March 2020 as a pandemic doughnut pop-up, sold online and gone in minutes, and in late March 2025 it finally got a shop of its own on Greenpoint Avenue. The pastries are Filipino flavors in French and American shapes, and the line on weekend mornings says the move was overdue.
The leche flan doughnut — brioche with a miniature flan tucked inside — is the bestseller. Ube shows up everywhere: in the doughnut dough and glaze, swirled through a babka, striped through a coconut cookie, foamed into a pale purple latte. There is an ensaymada croissant and a Spam and pimiento cheese pain suisse for the savory-minded. Within months of opening, the Queens Chamber of Commerce named it the borough's best bakery.
Editor’s tip
Get the leche flan doughnut first; if the ube babka is out, the ube coconut cookie travels better anyway.
