WOODSIDE, QUEENS
Kusina Pinoy Bistro
Little Manila family cooking — pork belly kare-kare, sisig with an egg, sizzling biko and halo-halo.
Next door to Renee's, under the rattle of the 7, Kusina Pinoy is built for groups. The kitchen does big meat and seafood platters for groups, and the menu leans into celebration food: pork belly kare-kare in its peanut sauce, a sisig of caramelized pork that hits sweet and salty at once, best with an egg cracked on top.
Save room. Sizzling biko — sticky rice cake still crackling on its skillet — is the dessert to know, and there is halo-halo, plus a sampler of cassava cake, leche flan and ube halaya for anyone who can't decide.
Editor’s tip
Order the sisig with an egg on top, and end with sizzling biko rather than another savory plate.
