GRAMERCY & UNION SQUARE, MANHATTAN
La Dong
A Bib Gourmand Vietnamese room off Union Square — lotus lamps, turmeric crêpes and pho poured tableside over wagyu.
From the team behind the Thai restaurant Pranakhon, a Vietnamese dining room just off Union Square dressed like a colonial-era house: wooden arches, private booths and lamps shaped like lotus flowers. The restaurant frames itself as the home of Ms. Đồng, welcoming you in, and the room plays the part.
The Michelin Guide named it a Bib Gourmand in 2025. Start with summer rolls and the turmeric crêpe with shrimp, then the pho — poured at the table over thin slices of Miyazaki A5 wagyu. With a group, the guide's own advice is to go for the chef's special menu.
Editor’s tip
Ask for one of the private booths, and order the tableside pho for the table to share.
