IllustrationAn old-school red-and-white slice shop with new-school instincts, run by a couple near the Brooklyn Museum end of Crown Heights. The mozzarella is sliced rather than shredded, so the plain slice is sauce-forward, with a salty-sweet red sauce that caramelizes in the oven; lemonade comes with mint and a squeeze of lime.
The slice to know is the spicy pepperoni with jalapeños and a swirl of herby ranch. The white pie is a paper-thin layer of ricotta and mozzarella with plain honey, and the Spicy Hawaiian brings capicola, pineapple and jalapeño. Seating is limited, so on a nice day take a pie to Prospect Park.
Editor’s tip
Order the spicy pepperoni and a white slice, then walk them over to the park.
