IllustrationFrom the three friends behind Los Tacos No. 1, who grew up between Tijuana and Brawley, California, Los Mariscos is their seafood counterpart, tucked down a hallway inside Chelsea Market with its own door on 15th Street. Picnic tables, an open kitchen and strings of lights make it feel more like a beach taqueria than a market stall.
Order the crispy fish taco on a handmade tortilla first, then shrimp, and a bowl of shrimp aguachile in its cold, spicy broth. Add guacamole, a margarita or a beer, and stay for another round while the soccer plays over the bar.
Editor’s tip
Use the 15th Street entrance to skip the market crowds, and order the fish taco before anything else.
