BAYSIDE, QUEENS
Okdongsik Bayside
A Seoul Bib Gourmand's clear pork gomtang — a nearly single-dish room on Bell Boulevard since 2025.
Chef Ok Dongsik's first restaurant, in Seoul, made a name with almost nothing: a short menu, a quiet room, and dweji gomtang — a clear pork soup — that the Michelin Guide has listed as a Bib Gourmand since 2018. After a Koreatown outpost, he opened this Bell Boulevard room in January 2025, a few minutes from the Bayside LIRR station.
There are only a handful of things to order. The gomtang is the point: a light, clean broth with thin slices of roasted pork, served with rice, eaten with seokbakji (radish kimchi) and gochuji, a pickled chili. Kimchi mandu, a seafood cake seasoned with soy and naeng jeyuk — chilled, slow-cooked pork — complete the menu. It is spare by design, and calming for it.
Editor’s tip
Order the dweji gomtang and the kimchi mandu, and eat the soup the way it comes before reaching for anything else.
