IllustrationPaul Giannone's slice shop on Franklin Street is a love letter to the pizzerias of the 1960s and '70s — orange booths, wood paneling, a checkered floor and a retro playlist turned up loud — and it is where the Paulie Gee's name still lives in Greenpoint now that the original Greenpoint Avenue room has become Me and Paul's.
Get a Hellboy slice, pepperoni with Mike's Hot Honey, and a Mootz, the sauceless one with fresh mozzarella, garlic and Pecorino. The upside-down Sicilians — the Freddy Prinze and the Hellboy² — have a sesame-seed bottom, and there's a vegan pie on the board too.
Editor’s tip
Order a Hellboy and a square from the counter and grab a booth in the back.
