A neighborhood deli near the end of the N and W lines that traces its roots to 1940 and took its current name in 1987, after owner Charlie Gordon, his wife Kris and a longtime worker named Sal. The Gordon family still runs the counter, and Astoria still calls it the home of the Sandwich King.

The order is The Bomb: a fourteen-inch hero of salami, pepperoni, ham, roast beef, pastrami and turkey with two cheeses, two kinds of peppers and the works, nearly two pounds of it. One will feed two. Take it to Astoria Park, a short walk west.

Editor’s tip

Split one Bomb between two and eat it in Astoria Park with a view of the Hell Gate Bridge.
