DOUGLASTON–LITTLE NECK, QUEENS

Sung Book Dong

Family-recipe naengmyeon and tabletop barbecue at the eastern end of Northern Boulevard in Little Neck.

At the far end of Northern Boulevard, nearly at the Nassau line, the Korean corridor thins out into a few last restaurants. Sung Book Dong, open since 2019, is the one that keeps the old program: tabletop barbecue, a plain room, and a kitchen run by a family of restaurateurs from Korea.

The owners make a point of their naengmyeon, a family recipe, and the cold noodles are the thing to order — in icy broth on a hot day, or bibim-style with chili. The marinated barbecue rounds out a meal. It is no-frills, friendly, and a long way from 32nd Street in every sense.

Editor’s tip

Order the naengmyeon first, then decide on the grill.
