ELMHURST, QUEENS
Taiwanese Gourmet
Elmhurst's long-running Taiwanese table — fried stinky tofu, fly's head and a teacup that never empties.
A family-run Taiwanese dining room on Broadway that has fed Elmhurst for more than two decades, red-accented and usually full of large tables sharing everything. Food comes quickly, and the servers are remarkably good at keeping your cup of hot tea topped up.
Order for the table: fried stinky tofu, crisp outside and pungent within, and fly's head — minced pork with chives and fermented black beans, better than its name. Add a pork chop over rice from the long menu, and bring cash.
Editor’s tip
Come with four or more and order stinky tofu and fly's head before anything else.
