The Greenpoint sibling of 886 in the East Village, Wenwen serves Taiwanese cooking that tastes like it came out of a home kitchen in Taipei — hearty, saucy and made for sharing — in a dark, fun room at the north end of Manhattan Avenue. There's a disco ball in the bathroom.

Order lo ba beng, the braised pork over rice, and the black pepper beef with broccoli, and watch for the BDSM chicken, of which only a handful are made each night. A big flaming cocktail for the table is the way to start.

Editor’s tip

Come with four, order family-style and ask early whether the night's chickens are gone.
