COBBLE HILL, BROOKLYN

Zabb PuTawn

Northern Thai on Court Street — sour fermented ribs and a khao soi with noodles two ways.

The Brooklyn branch of an Upper East Side Thai restaurant known for Northern cooking, Zabb PuTawn is a long, narrow room on Court Street with a full bar and a menu that goes well beyond the usual curries. It is the kind of neighborhood place that makes a weeknight better.

Start with naem gradook moo, the sour fermented pork ribs, and a papaya salad. Then get the khao soi with bone-in chicken — a rich coconut curry with soft noodles inside and fried ones on top — and, if you like your curry darker and more fragrant, the hunglay pork ribs.

Editor’s tip

Order the khao soi and the sour ribs, and ask for the papaya salad at the heat you actually want.
