IllustrationMusicians Richard Julian, Arthur Kell and Rosita Késs opened LunÀtico on Halsey Street in 2014, wanting a bar that married the polish of a cocktail bar with the funk of their favorite music rooms. It is narrow, artist-owned, and has live music every night — a rescued banner from the old Larry's Liquid Love hangs on the wall.
Come for a good cocktail, a plate from the dinner menu and the sets, which range widely in style. Seating is first come, first served, and some of it is communal. The house asks for a cash donation for the band and for conversation kept to a whisper during the music.
Editor’s tip
Arrive well before the first set to get a seat, and bring cash for the musicians.
