Dirt Candy
Amanda Cohen's vegetable tasting menu on Allen Street — inventive, witty and tip-free.
See current Google rating & reviews ↗Amanda Cohen opened Dirt Candy in 2008 and moved it to a larger room on Allen Street in 2015, and it remains the city's most playful argument for vegetables. A long counter faces the open kitchen, plant silhouettes run along the white brick, and there is a sequined sign worth a photo.
Dinner is a single seasonal tasting menu, vegetable-only, with a vegan version on request. Expect things like a tiny carrot pizza between courses, a mushroom croissant with mushroom cappuccino, or a potato sundae for dessert. The restaurant does not take tips and says so plainly.
Editor’s tip
Sit at the counter facing the kitchen, and tell them about any dietary needs when you book.
