A konbini by way of the Bay Area, Mama Yoshi is a tiny Japanese-American corner shop on a Ridgewood side street: shelves of Pocky and furikake, a short counter, and a patio of sunflower-yellow furniture that turns it into a neighborhood hangout on warm days.
The kitchen's katsu is the reason to come. Order the spicy chicken katsu sandwich, or the chicken katsu curry bowl if you want a full plate; the cauliflower katsu is a good meatless version of either.
