LOWER EAST SIDE, MANHATTAN

Okiboru House of Tsukemen

Dipping ramen on Orchard Street — thick noodles, concentrated broth, and a 2026 NYT nod.

Tsukemen is ramen taken apart: thick, chewy noodles served cold or warm in one bowl, a dense, concentrated broth in another, and you dip as you go. This Orchard Street counter, from a ramen group that started in Atlanta, does nothing but build its menu around that idea, and it does it well enough that the New York Times included it on its 2026 best-restaurants list.

Order the house tsukemen and take your time with it — the broth clings to the noodles and gets richer as the bowl goes on. There are tonkotsu ramen bowls for anyone who wants their soup in one piece, plus pork buns and garlic nori fries. It is a dine-in-only room, so plan to sit.

Editor’s tip

Dip the noodles only partway at first; the broth is concentrated, and a little goes a long way.
