IllustrationFrom the people behind nearby Frog Wine Bar, Only Child is the opposite mood: Frog is wine in a backyard, this is cocktails in the dark. A 2026 opening on Jefferson Avenue, it is swanky and dim, with lots of couches and barely enough light to read the menu.
Order a martini — you can add a sidecar — and a few gildas to snack on. It is almost too dark for a first date, but right for a third, a solo drink at the bar, an aperitif before dinner or a nightcap after a long evening at Frog.
Editor’s tip
Pair it with Frog Wine Bar a few blocks away: a bottle in the backyard first, a martini here after.
