Pierogi Boys started in the basement of DeKalb Market Hall and now has a corner of its own in Ridgewood: a seasonal restaurant and bar with a Polish grocery attached, busy at lunch with friends catching up over plates of dumplings.

The pierogi are made from scratch — potato and cheese, finished with caramelized onions or with mushrooms and sauerkraut. Add a bowl of white borscht with kielbasa and the potato pancakes; schnitzel turns up at dinner. On the way out, browse the shelves for Polish pantry staples.

Editor’s tip

Order pierogi both ways and the white borscht, then pick up something from the market to take home.
