IllustrationFounded during the pandemic by Gramercy Tavern alumni, Rolo's is a wood-fired bar and grill on a Ridgewood corner that has become hard to book. The main dining room is softly lit with a view of the grill and oven; the bar is darker, livelier and kept for walk-ins.
The order is the two-sheet lasagna verde, then wood-fired polenta bread with sesame and wild oregano, head-on salt-and-pepper shrimp and the double cheeseburger. During the day it does sandwiches and baked goods, and weekends bring brunch.
Editor’s tip
Walk in for the bar right at opening, and order the lasagna no matter what else you get.
