IllustrationSalvatore La Rosa used to deliver sandwiches around Brooklyn by moped and pop up at wine bars before settling into this little shop on Forest Avenue. The menu is short and written on a chalkboard above the bar, and the bread comes from Otway Bakery.
By day, get the sausage, leek, potato and gorgonzola cream sandwich, or mortadella with burrata, pistachio pesto and lemon zest. In the evening the room turns into a small Italian restaurant, with a fennel salad with citrus and fried capers, ziti al ragù napoletana and wine.
Editor’s tip
Come for a sandwich at lunch, then come back another night for ziti and a bottle.
