Step by step

Q70 to Jackson Heights, then the F into Brooklyn

About 60–75 minutes to Downtown Brooklyn · $3

The Q48 bus no longer serves LaGuardia; older guides still mention it.

  1. Terminal B or C

Follow the signs for the LaGuardia Link Q70 bus. It is free and has luggage racks. Landing at Terminal A? Take the free airport shuttle to Terminal B first.

Q70about 15 min (MTA) (our estimate)

  2. Jackson Hts–Roosevelt Av / 74 St

    Tap · $3

Tap into the subway and take the F toward Brooklyn. It crosses Manhattan along Sixth Avenue.

    F40–50 min (our estimate)

  3. Downtown Brooklyn & Park Slope

The F stops at York St (for DUMBO), Jay St–MetroTech, Bergen St and 7 Av (Park Slope). Our suggested routing.

No tickets, no MetroCard

How paying works: just tap

  1. 1

Use a contactless card or your phone

Any tap-to-pay credit or debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay works on New York's subways and buses. There is nothing to buy first. The old MetroCard is gone.

  2. 2

    The Q70 is free

The LaGuardia Link Q70 costs nothing: just board at Terminal B or C. You pay only when you tap into the subway at Jackson Heights or board a city bus like the M60.

  3. 3

    Tap once, wait for GO

Hold the card or phone flat on the reader until the screen says GO. The subway and local buses are $3 a ride, with a free transfer to a bus or another subway within two hours.

  4. 4

Stick to one card all week

Pay for 12 subway or bus rides on the same card or phone within any 7 days ($35) and the rest of that week is free. Each traveler needs their own card or phone to count toward it.

  • Your phone and the physical card in it count as two different payment methods. Pick one and keep using it.
  • On the M60 Select Bus Service, tap at any door. Paying cash? Buy a receipt from the machine at the stop before you board.
  • The LIRR is separate: buy that ticket in the TrainTime app or at a station machine.

The Port Authority's estimate, before tips and tolls: about $28–$50 to Downtown Brooklyn.

Yellow taxi

  • Take a yellow cab only from the official taxi line outside arrivals. Ignore anyone offering a ride inside the terminal.
  • LaGuardia to Brooklyn is short by car and long by transit, so a cab or rideshare is often the better deal for two or more people.

Uber and Lyft

  • Follow the Ride App Pick Up signs. Terminal A: across the street from arrivals. Terminal B: Level 2 of the Terminal B parking garage. Terminal C: the inner lane at arrivals.
  • Request the car only when you are close to the pickup point.
