City Island's newest dining room opened in early 2026 near the bridge end of the avenue, and it is a deliberate change of key from the fried-seafood halls at the other end. Owner Emil Cobic, a restaurateur who fell for the island's marinas while cruising up to them on his own boat, designed the room himself: mustard velvet seats, tan leather banquettes, a stone bar and a floor-to-ceiling window at the entrance.

The menu is modern Greek with the sea at the center. Start with grilled octopus, fried sardines or roasted peppers stuffed with whipped feta, and a few oysters from the raw bar. Then share a whole fish — charcoal-grilled branzino with oregano and lemon, red snapper, or City Island porgies grilled or fried — and a Greek salad with barrel-aged feta. Moussaka and lamb are there for the table's meat-eaters, and there is a weekend brunch menu too.

Editor’s tip

Order a whole grilled fish for two and the City Island porgies if they're on.
