LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS
Boro Hotel
Clean lines, light, and a Manhattan skyline view at a Queens price — Dutch Kills' quiet design hotel.

Boro Hotel is Long Island City's design-minded independent: raw concrete ceilings, pale wood, white bedding, and floor-to-ceiling windows that turn the Manhattan skyline across the river into the artwork the rooms are arranged around. Many rooms add small balconies, a genuine rarity at this price in New York.
It sits in Dutch Kills, a historically industrial corner of Long Island City, and the hotel leans into the history: Beebe's, the restaurant and bar just off the lobby, is named for Beebe Avenue, the old name of 39th Avenue. It serves breakfast, thin-crust pizzas, handmade pasta and cocktails, a lobby café pulls lattes and cappuccinos, and a seasonal rooftop opens in spring for dinner and drinks at sunset.
The appeal is the trade it offers plainly — a quick ride on the N/W into Manhattan in exchange for space, light, and a view most Manhattan hotels charge triple for. MoMA PS1 and SculptureCenter are close by, and the surrounding blocks are workaday Queens, which guests tend to count as honesty rather than drawback.
Editor’s tip
Ask for a high-floor room facing Manhattan, ideally with a balcony — that view is the entire reason to book.
