Date Night in Greenpoint: Romantic Restaurants and Bars (2026)
A Michelin-starred French counter by McCarren Park, wood-fired Mexican under a skylight, Armenian wine by the course and a Tokyo-style listening bar — where to take a date in Greenpoint, from dinner to the last record.
12 restaurants

Greenpoint is quieter than its neighbor to the south, and that suits a date. Manhattan Avenue runs north past shopfronts and church spires to the old industrial blocks at the neighborhood's tip; Franklin Street and the side streets toward the river hold a vermouth bar, a Spanish seafood bar and small dining rooms; and at the west end of Greenpoint Avenue, Transmitter Park looks across the East River at Manhattan as the sun goes down. Inland, a wine bistro and a French tasting counter sit on the edges of McGolrick and McCarren parks.
The picks below are grouped the way a date runs: a dinner for the occasion, a long and easy meal, then a bar for one more round. Everything is reached from the G at Greenpoint Av or Nassau Av, and the NYC Ferry lands near the waterfront. Booking varies: HOUSE Brooklyn releases its seats on Resy a month ahead and takes no walk-ins, Restaurant Yuu requires reservations for its tasting menu, and several bars keep stools for walk-ins, so check each page before you go.

The long tasting menu at the counter, or the shorter bar menu
Restaurant Yuu · GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN
Yuu Shimano, a chef from Japan, cooks classical French food at a counter on the edge of McCarren Park; the restaurant lists a MICHELIN star and runs two seatings a night like a performance. The duck pie arrives with its own theme music, and the abalone risotto is the course people remember. The tasting menu needs a reservation; the bar menu has some walk-in seats.
- 02
Nine-course menu with the sake-and-tea pairing
HOUSE Brooklyn · GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN
Behind sliding glass doors at the back of 50 Norman Avenue, Tokyo chef Yuji Tani runs an intimate counter that moves between Japanese and French technique, with a particular love of dashi and fermentation. Recent menus have included charcoal-grilled shoyu koji duck and lobster spring rolls. Seats are released on Resy a month ahead with no walk-ins, and the meal starts when everyone is seated.
- 03
Whatever the hearth is doing to vegetables, with a mezcal
Oxomoco · GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN
Greenpoint's first Michelin star came to this skylit, whitewashed room within months of its 2018 opening, and everything still passes through the wood fire: tacos and tostadas on house-ground masa, charred vegetables, whole fish. It works as a loose neighborhood dinner, with one of north Brooklyn's better mezcal and tequila lists. Prime evenings go quickly on Resy, so book early.
- 04
Seasonal Armenian prix fixe with the wine pairing
Café Little Armenia · GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN
Chef Ararat El Rawi cooks, hosts and pours in this small room at the top of Manhattan Avenue, hung with vintage family photographs. The seasonal prix fixe walks through the Armenian table — herb-bright beets, lamb meatballs, flatbreads and dips, slow stews — one course at a time. Give it two and a half hours, take the wine pairing and book ahead on the official site.
A long, easy dinner
Warm rooms for sharing, lingering and walking it off afterward.
- 05
Paratha with stracciatella, char siu and the Hainanese chicken
Kelang · GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN
Chris Low's Malaysian restaurant on Manhattan Avenue borrows its look from Wong Kar-wai: deep red booths, embroidered fabric, low light and cocktails built on pandan and calamansi. The Hainanese chicken at dinner is the family dish and should not be missed; add the paratha and the char siu pork belly. Book on Resy about 30 days out; a few bar seats are held for walk-ins.
- 06
Flatbreads and spiced lamb, or the weekend brunch feast for two
Glasserie · GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN
A corner of an 1860s glassworks at Greenpoint's northern tip, with worn brick, patterned tile and soft lamplight. Dinner means Levantine-leaning flatbreads, spiced lamb and vegetables taken seriously, and the weekend brunch feast for two is the slow-Saturday version. The walk up Manhattan Avenue past old industrial blocks is part of the outing. Reservations and walk-ins are both welcome.
- 07
The Caesar and charcuterie, then grilled pork shoulder
Chez Ma Tante · GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN
A white-brick bistro on a tree-lined corner of Calyer and Franklin, modeled on Europe's plain cafés and pubs, with classic cocktails and a value-minded wine list; the New York Times put it among the city's 100 best in 2025. At dinner, start with the Caesar and whatever charcuterie is on, then the pork shoulder with lentils. Book on Resy or take a bar seat.
- 08
Northern-style pho, then sunset at Transmitter Park
Di An Di · GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN
A plant-filled, light-washed Vietnamese room on Greenpoint Avenue from first-generation Vietnamese-American owners. The clear, careful northern pho is the order, with crispy rice-flour crepes or grilled meats over noodles alongside. Afterward, walk the three minutes to Transmitter Park for the light over Manhattan. Book through OpenTable via the official site; weekend evenings fill.
One more round
Oysters by the river, vermouth, vinyl and a chilled red by the park.
- 09
Half-price oysters and a minute-stirred martini at happy hour
El Pingüino · GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN
A Spanish seafood bar at the river end of Greenpoint Avenue, with a cartoon of a wine-drunk penguin on the wall and a raw bar far more serious than the decor. Come for the early happy hour, work through the conservas and seafood tapas, and finish with burnt Basque cheesecake and a glass of sherry. Reserve on the official site or sit at the bar.
- 10
House vermouth with orange foam, olives and grilled octopus
Bar Americano · GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN
An aperitivo bar on Franklin Street modeled on those of Spain and northern Italy, with a quartz-topped bar, a good playlist and more than fifty vermouths. Start with the house vermouth and a few small plates; if it turns into dinner, the Caesar with Idiazábal cheese and the burger both have fans. Reserve on Resy for early evening; there is some walk-in space.
- 11
A Gruyère-washed martini in the back room
Eavesdrop · GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN
A wood-framed listening bar on Manhattan Avenue, inspired by Tokyo's kissa jazz cafés, with a serious sound system and DJs playing their own vinyl: loud enough to lean in, quiet enough to talk. Natural wine and Japanese-inspired small plates fill out the night. Tables book up, so reserve on Resy well ahead, ask for the back room and check the DJ calendar.
- 12
A chilled volcanic red and the poppyseed cheesecake
Lovebirds Wine Bar & Bistro · GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN
A small wine bistro with half-curtained windows on the edge of McGolrick Park, pouring fairly priced bottles that lean toward chilled volcanic reds and zippy Greek whites. The kitchen does more than a wine bar has to, so try the sunchoke miso velouté before the cheesecake. Walk the park first, then book on Resy and ask for a window table.
Every kitchen here was confirmed open as of 2026-10-19. Menus change — confirm a dish is on before you make the trip.
