Halalbee's

On a busy stretch of Hillside Avenue in Jamaica, Queens, Halalbee's has built a loyal following by doing something that used to be surprisingly hard to find in New York: a serious, premium burger that is fully halal. The owners are Muslim, and the shop's beef is grass-fed and halal, sourced from Australia according to its listing on the halal directory Zabihah. When Edible Queens wrote it up in 2019, it called Halalbee's one of the best new burgers in the borough and noted a mixed crowd of Muslim and non-Muslim regulars, which still describes the place. It is a casual neighborhood spot, and it has since added a second shop on Westchester Avenue in the Bronx.

New York Turk went looking for the best halal burger in the city in 2025 and stopped here. Diners recommend the Hot Chick and the Oklahoma, and the menu also runs to the Original, the Stuffed, the Triple Bee and the Lunatic, the last a draw for anyone curious to try halal bacon on a burger. For sides, the truffle fries are the popular pick, and sweet potato fries are on offer too. Portions are hearty and it works well for a quick family dinner, and much of the trade is takeout. It is a short walk from the F train at 179th Street, so it is easy to fold into a trip out to eastern Queens.
