UPPER EAST SIDE, MANHATTAN
Jones Wood Foundry
A British pub on East 76th Street with fish and chips, suet-crust pies, cask ales and a back garden.
See current Google rating & reviews ↗Jones Wood Foundry is the Upper East Side's British pub, run by chef-owner Jason Hicks, who grew up in Stratford-upon-Avon. The name is local history: the land was once the Jones Wood estate, and the basement kitchen was a foundry that cast manhole covers.
Order the beer-battered fish and chips with triple-cooked chips, a suet-crust pie and a cask ale, then take your pint out to the courtyard garden at the back. On Thanksgiving it cooks Amish turkey with sausage-sage stuffing and sticky toffee pudding.
Editor’s tip
Ask for a table in the back garden when the weather allows.
