Skinny Louie is a smash-burger counter that started in Wynwood, Miami, in November 2023 and came to New York with a NoMad shop in April 2025, after taking top honors at the New York City Wine and Food Festival's Burger Bash. The West Village location on Carmine Street, just off Sixth Avenue and Bleecker, opened in March 2026 and has the same quick, buzzy energy: a short menu, a griddle working hard and a crowd that runs late into the night. It is the kind of place you duck into between bars, after a show at one of the Village clubs, or on a slow afternoon when only a burger and a shake will do.

The menu is tight on purpose: smash burgers made with fresh Black Angus beef, including a cheeseburger, the Classic and an applewood bacon burger, with crispy fries and milkshakes alongside. There is an Impossible patty for non-meat eaters and gluten-free buns on request. Skinny Louie was featured by the YouTuber New York Turk in 2025, on his lunch break as a cab driver. The West Village shop keeps late hours, especially on weekends, which makes it a reliable after-midnight stop in the neighborhood. Order at the counter or online through the restaurant's site; there are also locations in NoMad, the East Village, the Upper East Side and the Penn District.

Editor’s tip

Come after 11pm when the Village bars spill out, and add a shake; there are gluten-free buns if you ask.
