BKLYN CLAY is a full-scale ceramics studio, with semester classes, kilns and a membership of working potters, and on weekend nights it opens its wheels to beginners. TryDay Night is a two-hour, one-time class where an instructor leads up to 12 students through centering clay and pulling up their first pots on the wheel. Come alone or with a friend; it is an easy, low-stakes evening out, and the instructors are used to first-timers who have never touched clay.

Classes run on Friday and Saturday nights at both studios, in Prospect Heights at 535 Carlton Avenue and in Tribeca at 288 West Street. As of October 2026 it costs $85 a person, booked in advance. The price does not include keeping a finished piece; you can add one for $20, or book a private lesson if a keepsake is the point. Beer and wine are sold on site, and there is no BYOB. Wear clothes that can get muddy and keep your nails short. Cancellations need 48 hours' notice. Children 7 and up can join with a participating adult.
