Brooklyn
Trolley and Walking Tours of Green-Wood Cemetery
Ride a trolley or walk with a guide through Green-Wood's hills, Gothic gate and centuries of Brooklyn history.

Green-Wood is a working cemetery, an arboretum and a vast 19th-century landscape of hills, ponds and monuments, and part of the 1776 Battle of Brooklyn was fought on what became its grounds. Its own guides run a full calendar of public programs: the two-hour Discover Green-Wood trolley tour, themed trolley rides, walking tours such as one on Brooklyn's Black trailblazers, bird walks and even a stroller-friendly tour for new parents. Each turns a beautiful walk into a lesson in how the city chose to remember itself.
Trolley tours check in at the trolley by the Gothic arch at the main entrance, Fifth Avenue and 25th Street, and tickets are sold through the event pages on Green-Wood's calendar; the late-October 2026 calendar lists trolley and walking tours on the weekend. The trolley is wheelchair-accessible but some stops are not, so arrange mobility needs in advance. Without a tour, the free mobile guide makes a good self-guided wander. Autumn is the season to go; the after-dark Nightfall events are a separate, ticketed affair.
