MIDTOWN, MANHATTAN
Radio City Music Hall
Rockefeller Center's 1932 Art Deco showplace, home of the Rockettes and their Christmas Spectacular.

Radio City Music Hall opened on December 27, 1932, as part of Rockefeller Center, on land first meant for a new Metropolitan Opera house. Designed by Edward Durell Stone and Donald Deskey in full Art Deco, its 5,960-seat, four-tiered auditorium was the largest in the world when it opened, and its block-long neon marquee on Sixth Avenue is still one of the city's great night signs. It is the home of the Rockettes, and it became a city landmark in 1978.
In Home Alone 2, it is where Kevin starts his sightseeing, camera in hand, on his first afternoon in New York. In the holiday season the Christmas Spectacular fills the hall from early November to early January; the rest of the year it hosts concerts, premieres and award shows.
Editor’s tip
Cross to the east side of Sixth Avenue for the full marquee in one frame.
