Cuerno

Cuerno is a northern Mexican steakhouse in the Time & Life Building at Rockefeller Center, and the first U.S. restaurant from Costeño Group, which runs dozens of restaurants across Mexico and Spain. It opened in June 2025 and brings the norteño tradition of salt and smoke to Sixth Avenue. The bi-level room has big windows, exposed brick, an illuminated cellar of Mexican wines and a striking mural of a skeleton riding a bull, made partly with tiles of soil from northern Mexico. The lower level is more private, and there is an open-air patio out front in warm weather. It feels festive and polished at once, a good fit for a business lunch or a celebratory dinner.

Steaks are the headline: tomahawks crusted with Colima salt, a rib eye cooked a la sal and twelve-hour short ribs smoked in a mesquite-fired Josper oven. Around them, the menu adds hamachi with chiltepín chile, a Caesar salad that swaps croutons for pork chicharrón and a taco list that includes a tableside option finished with bone marrow. Complimentary chips arrive with a spread of salsas. Time Out New York gave it four stars. Cuerno was featured by the YouTuber New York Turk in 2025 as a solo lunch, and lunch is an easier way in than prime dinner hours. Reservations are on Resy, and walk-ins are welcome.
