The solo kit

When to go
Mid-afternoon to sunset: start at Intelligentsia about two hours before sunset (and before its 5pm close). Intelligentsia closes 5pm and Los Tacos opens 11am, while the High Line (10pm until Nov 30), Pier 57's rooftop (1am) and Little Island (11pm until Oct 31, 9pm from Nov 1) stay open past dark, so the walk can end at sunset on the river.
Your seat for lunch
Los Tacos No. 1 (Chelsea Market). It is a standing counter: everyone orders at the counter and eats standing at it, so nobody is at a table for two.
Sit and watch
10th Avenue Square amphitheater, the High Line at 17th St. Friends of the High Line describe amphitheater-style seating overlooking 10th Avenue, a south-facing view toward the Statue of Liberty, and peel-up benches in the 2025 rebuild.
Restrooms
  • High Line - Caledonia Apartments Public Restroom — 10th Ave & W 16th St (on the High Line, by the 16th St exit) Public
  • Little Island restrooms (incl. ADA all-gender) — Near The Glade, just past the South Bridge entrance Public
  • Pier 57 restrooms (ground floor and rooftop) — Pier 57, W 15th St & West St Public
  • 14 St subway station bathroom (A/C/E, L) — Enter at 16 St & 8 Av Public
After dark
Based on hours, not a lighting survey: every stop after the coffee bar stays open after sunset (High Line 10pm through Nov 30, Chelsea Market 10pm, Pier 57 rooftop 1am, Little Island 11pm/9pm), so the route is in use after dark. From Dec 1 the High Line closes at 8pm.
Photo of yourself

Subway
In: 23 St (C/E). Out: 14 St / 8 Av (A/C/E/L).
