The solo kit

When to go
Tuesday-Friday, start at Tudor City around 9:30am and sit down at the Oyster Bar around 12:30pm. The Rose Main Reading Room visiting hour is 10-11am Mon-Sat, the Morgan opens at 10:30am and is closed Mondays, and the Oyster Bar opens at 11:30am Monday-Friday only. Tue-Fri is the only window where all three line up.
Your seat for lunch
Tudor City Overpass. Its four U-shaped lunch counters are, per the restaurant, among its most popular seats, plus 23 stools at the oyster bar itself. A single diner takes one stool.
Sit and watch
Bryant Park. Open daily; from Oct 28, 2026 to Feb 28, 2027 the lawn becomes the Winter Village rink, so seating shifts to the terraces and paths.

NYPL Fifth Avenue terrace and steps. Bryant Park Corp. describes the library's raised terrace as built 'to provide gathering places for people'. The broad public steps facing Fifth Avenue give you a step to prop a phone on, with the facade behind you.
