The Standard, High Line has been a Meatpacking District landmark since 2009, a concrete tower rising over the former elevated railway that is now the High Line park. Every one of its 338 rooms has a full wall of floor-to-ceiling glass looking out over Manhattan or the Hudson River, and the canary-yellow revolving doors make a cheerful first impression. Rooms are wrapped in wood paneling around the bed with moody lighting, and Time Out's 2025 review found the hotel still feels fresh more than fifteen years on.

The building holds a full evening. The Standard Grill serves steaks, seafood and a raw bar on the ground floor, the Biergarten pours beneath the High Line itself, and Le Bain & The Rooftop, the top-floor discotheque for guests 21 and over, runs on skyline views. It suits couples, night owls and anyone who wants the Whitney, Little Island and Chelsea Market on the doorstep. Pack a sense of humor: the windows are generous, and the city is very much part of the room.

Editor’s tip

Book weekend brunch at the Standard Grill, then walk down to the Whitney or up the High Line toward Chelsea.
