Bay Ridge Fish Market is a newer seafood shop and kitchen on Third Avenue, Bay Ridge's long restaurant row, that does double duty as a fishmonger and a casual place to eat. The case is stocked with the day's catch, from salmon and branzino to shellfish and sushi-grade fillets, and the kitchen turns out fried fish, steamed seafood and party platters. It brings back a very old Brooklyn tradition, the Friday-night fish fry from the corner shop, with a friendly counter staff who are happy to suggest what to cook tonight or how to cook it. Locals use it for weeknight dinners and holiday spreads alike, and the room has the easy warmth of a neighborhood favorite.

For eating in or taking away, start with the fish and chips, beer-battered and fried crisp with thick-cut fries and house tartar sauce. The crab boil, PEI mussels in white sauce, calamari, a fried shrimp basket and a lobster roll round out the hot menu, and there are pre-made sushi rolls for a quick bite. If you are cooking at home, ask for sushi-grade tuna or scallops for poke, or order a mixed seafood platter of jumbo shrimp and shucked oysters for a gathering. Bay Ridge Fish Market was featured by the YouTuber New York Turk in 2025 on a Bay Ridge food tour. Pickup and delivery orders can be placed online.

Editor’s tip

Pick up fish and chips to go and eat by the water at Shore Road Park, a short walk west.
