Burgerhead

Burgerhead is a small burger counter on Sixth Avenue between Washington Place and West 4th Street, opened in spring 2024 by William Djuric and Jason Correa, who previously ran the Balkan street-food spot Balkan StrEAT in the same space. Instead of joining the smash-burger wave, they built the menu around an open-flame charbroiler, so the patties come off the grill with a char and a little more heft than the griddled burgers nearby, a point The Infatuation made in its review. The vibe is quick, cheerful and very West Village: a few seats, a steady line of students and neighbors, and a short menu done with care.

Start with the Charburger, a 4-ounce charbroiled patty with American cheese, shredded lettuce, onions, pickles and house sauce on a toasted sesame bun, or go double. The fries are cooked in beef tallow, and the fried chicken sandwich uses buttermilk-brined chicken fried in tallow too. Hand-spun shakes and chardogs round out the menu, and there is an Impossible version of the burger for non-meat eaters. Burgerhead was featured by the YouTuber New York Turk in 2025. The shop has since added an East Village location, but the Sixth Avenue original is right by the West 4th Street courts, so take your burger to watch a pickup game.
